The Rancho Santa Fe Covenant was founded in 1927 and has approximately 6,200 acres. The zoning allows horses and there are 50 miles of maintained riding trails for the exclusive use of the Covenant owners. There is 1 horse per acre with a minimum 2 acre parcel. Rancho Santa Fe, California homes have anywhere from ½ acre to 50 + acres.
Fairbanks Ranch was developed in the 1980’s and has a beautiful equestrian center for the owners and horse trails for the owners’ exclusive use.
South Pointe Farms was established in the 1970’s and horses are allowed on some properties that are in the Covenant. Some homes in this development are outside the Covenant. Riders here have access to either the Encinitas or Covenant riding trails.
Rancho Del Largo allows horses with a minimum of 4 acre home sites.
Rancho Del Rio allows horses and home sites are 1 acre to 5+ acres.
Rancho Santa Fe Meadows is a gated community of 15 homes with the Morgan Run Golf Course and the newly remodeled health resort and spa on the north side. The homes range from 2,300 sq. ft. to 11,000 sq.ft. You can walk to the Rancho Santa Fe Solana Santa Fe Middle School and the shopping center near Fairbanks Ranch, CA called the Fairbanks Plaza.
The best thing for horse owners is that it is on the 50 mile Coast to Crest Trail and just a few blocks to the 50 miles of riding trails in the Rancho Santa Fe Covenant. The zoning allows more horses per acre in this area. You are also within 5 minutes of the Torrey Pines Beach, downtown Del Mar, CA and the Del Mar Beaches and another 10 minutes to the gorgeous public Torrey Pines Golf Course.
